East Boldre Tennis Club

We have two splendid hard courts at East Boldre situated at the old school fields.  Membership is simple and inexpensive and we play throughout the year.

All proceeds go towards the upkeep and maintenance of the courts. Membership is open to both children and adults.  Are you ready for Wimbledon?

There are regular club mornings on Sundays when anyone can turn up and play and also on Tuesday evenings during the summer months.

We hold regular Thursday evening tournaments throughout the summer too and also support Oakhaven Hospice by taking part in their 'Tennisathon'.

Should you wish to join please contact Vanessa Connolly (Chairman) on 01590 612588 or  John Graves (Treasurer) on 01590 626448.

All details of how to play or join are on the SFT noticeboard and also displayed on the courts.

Autumn Update

Unbelievably Summer seems to have turned into Autumn in a day, from August to 2nd September!

East Boldre Tennis Club has had a good Spring and Summer with the membership increasing, especially in the Junior category (any child in full-time education, including University). We have a six year-old who has joined just to practice his service, even though he also belongs to Lymington Tennis Club. A dedicated Mum is there to make sure he is safe. We have another keen tennis player who attends Priestlands School who is keen to hone his skills with his friends to see if he can emulate Federer, Murray or Nadal in the future.

We have a natural wastage where families move away, or children take on other sports, but all in all in has been a fun summer. Our twice monthly informal Tournaments have proved a success when the evenings allow us to play on the first and third Thursdays of the month.

We have had some friendly matches with the Waterside Tennis Club organised by a couple of our members, playing at our courts and later at theirs. We also had our usual ladies friendly match with Fenella's girls; the first match proving to be a complete draw, practically to the amount of tennis balls we hit! Despite a sudden downpour which soaked us all briefly we resumed play, soaked. The return match to settle the matter turned out to be great fun and to my knowledge East Boldre triumphed this time.
